Plex, beside the rest of your stack.

FullPlex · Media serverWatched first, managed later in the beta

The first beta watches Plex and reads its version without a token. During the beta, Tillarr shows what Plex is doing: who's watching, your libraries and what was added, next to Jellyfin's sessions if you run both.

How Tillarr shows Plex without a key, with example values.

What you see

  • Whether it answers, how quickly, and which address answered
  • Its version, read without a key
  • A tap to open its own web page

What's next

During the beta: sessions, libraries and their counts, recently added and history. With Tautulli connected, now playing comes from Tautulli, which also notifies without Plex Pass.

Connect Plex

What to have ready when you add it in Tillarr.

  1. Its address. Usually http://your-server:32400. Add a remote address too, and Tillarr uses it when home doesn't answer.
  2. Nothing else. Watching needs no key and no login, so it's free and can't change anything in Plex. When full support arrives, Tillarr asks for its key.

Good to know

  • Tillarr supports both Plex's newer short-lived tokens and the older ones.
  • "Sign out connected devices" in Plex revokes tokens, Tillarr's included.
  • Plex's own webhooks need Plex Pass. Tautulli's don't.

Behind a sign-in page

If a sign-in page guards Plex, let /identity through so the check can reach it. The remote access guide shows how.

How Tillarr checks Plex

Without a key, Tillarr asks for /identity to see that Plex is up, and reads its version from the answer. Every request goes from your device straight to your server, never through us. Works with Plex Media Server 1.43.

Questions

Is Tillarr a Plex player?

No. It watches and manages your server; Plex's apps play your library.

Do I need Plex Pass?

Not to watch Plex or see its sessions. Plex's own webhooks need Plex Pass, so Tillarr can use Tautulli's instead.
