How Tillarr shows Emby without a key, with example values.

What you see

  • Whether it answers, how quickly, and which address answered
  • Its version, read without a key
  • A tap to open its own web page

What's next

After 1.0: sessions, libraries and recently added, as Tillarr does for Jellyfin.

Connect Emby

What to have ready when you add it in Tillarr.

  1. Its address. Usually http://your-server:8096, with /web/ for its page. Add a remote address too, and Tillarr uses it when home doesn't answer.
  2. Nothing else. Watching needs no key and no login, so it's free and can't change anything in Emby.

Good to know

  • Emby's webhooks need Emby Premiere.
  • Update past 4.9.1.80: earlier releases have a known security flaw.

Behind a sign-in page

If a sign-in page guards Emby, let /emby/System/Info/Public through so the check can reach it. The remote access guide shows how.

How Tillarr checks Emby

Without a key, Tillarr asks for /emby/System/Info/Public to see that Emby is up, and reads its version from the answer. Every request goes from your device straight to your server, never through us.

Questions

Does Tillarr support Emby like Jellyfin?

Not yet. Jellyfin has full support in the first beta; Emby is watched, with its version, and gets sessions and libraries after 1.0.

Do I need Emby Premiere?

Not to watch Emby. Emby's own webhooks need Premiere.

I run Jellyfin. Should I add it as Emby?

No. Jellyfin 10 still answers Emby's check, so it would pass, but you'd only get a status. Add it as Jellyfin for sessions, transcodes and recently added.
